In Loving Memory - Panelist Martin Bosworth
R.U.X. (Rockwell's Universal SeXbots) at The Capital Fringe Festival
Science creates the perfect artificial sexual partner in R.U.X. (Rockwell's Universal Sexbots) by Maurice Martin at The Capital Fringe Festival, July 13 through July 29. Martin's science fiction comedy was voted Audience Favorite for the 2011 Hope Operas last fall. The play's title is a homage to R.U.R. by Czech writer Karel Čapek. Čapek's 1921 play presented the theme of mechanical slaves in rebellion of human masters and introduced the word “robot” to our vocabulary.
I interviewed Maurice Martin as well as director Sun King Davis and got some tape of a rehearsal. R.U.X. stars Adam R. Adkins, Amie Cazel, Jim Epstein, Ben Gibson, Amy Kellet, Momo Nakamura, Aubri O'Conner and John Tweel. This is a very funny and entertaining play. I encourage fans of science fiction and theater to support this fine work and the Capital Fringe Festival. More information is available at www.SurlyRobot.com
