In Loving Memory - Panelist Martin Bosworth
13th Annual Baltimore Comic Con
FANTASTIC FORUM was in attendance at this weekend's Baltimore Comic Con! The 13th Annual show featured special guest Stan Lee, The 25th Annual Harvey Awards, a Costume Contest, panels galore and more fun and excitement than you can shake a stick at!
Among the many guests were actor Phil Lamarr, DC Comics publisher Dan DiDio, artists John Romita, John Romita Jr., Garth Ennis, Frank Quitely, Jose Luiz Garcia Lopez, Brain Bolland, David Finch and the list goes on and on and on. Look for interviews with these talents you know and love in upcoming episodes.
Among the big winners at the Harvey Awards were Best Cartoonist Kate Beaton for "Hark! A Vagrant", Best Artist J.H. Williams for "Batwoman" and Best Writer Mark Waid for "Daredevil." Stan Lee and John Romita were on hand to present John Romita Jr. with the Hero Lifetime Achievement Award and the late Joe Kubert was the recipient of The Hero Initiative's Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Joining me at the convention were co-hosts Devon Sanders, Billie Rae Bates and Patrick Michael Strange and camerapeople Janar Stewart, Mark Leeke, and Bryan Lyles. I couldn't be more proud of our stalwart crew who hung in during challenging circumstances to obtain terrific convention coverage.
When all was said and done, we'd caught a few panels, made some new friends as well as reconnecting with old ones and we marveled at the fabulous costumes that were in evidence at every turn while getting almost all of it on tape.
Whew! I'm exhausted. But it was a great weekend overall. Many thanks to Awesome Cons' Ben Penrod for getting me into the Yankees-Orioles game on Friday night to start the festivities right (Yanks won 8-5). And even though I missed seeing it live, rookie QB Robert Griffin III led the Redskins to a 40-32 victory on the road over New Orleans. Not too shabby.
Look for our coverage of the 13th Annual Baltimore Comic Con coming soon! Keep watching, the best is yet to come!
